The situation has caused some of the pupils to drop out of school, while some teachers have also refused to go to school because of the non-availability of canoes, life jackets and outboard motors.

In response to an appeal by the school authorities to philanthropists to come to their aid, Ghandour Cosmetics Limited, a cosmetic company, has donated assorted equipment, including a canoe, an outboard motor and learning materials such as mathematical sets, books and boxes of chalk, as well as footballs, hand sanitisers and football jerseys to the school.

Presentation

The Assistant Marketing Manager of Ghandour Cosmetics, Ms Abigail Nii Quaye, who presented the items, said her outfit was committed to extending love and care to the needy, hence the decision to come to the aid of the school.

The Headmaster of the school, Mr Mathias Akorlie Jnr, who received the items, commended Ghandour Cosmetics for its support and kind gesture.

He appealed to the government and public-spirited individuals and organisations to come to the aid of the school to help rescue the pupils from danger.

“Some schoolchildren and teachers have to cross the river before they can go to school and this has caused some of the children to drop out of school,” Mr Akorlie said.

District director

The Ada East Assistant Director of Education in charge of Monitoring and Supervision, Mr Stephen S. Nartey, advised the school’s management to take good care of the items, adding that “the canoe and the outboard motor were for the school and not the community”.
