The block which was funded through the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) in response to the infrastructural needs of the school was named after the late Prof. J.E.A. Mills for initiating the project some four years ago.

It comprises classroom units, library and washrooms.

The Municipal Chief Executive of Obuasi, Mr Richard Ofori Agyemang, who handed over the building to the school, said the assembly was aware of the other challenges facing the school, namely problems with water supply and lack of accommodation for the teachers, adding that the assembly would include funding for some of the projects in its budget for next year.

The Headmaster of the school, Mr Ahmed Owusu-Ansah said he was grateful to the government for the assistance, pointing out that it would greatly help solve the infrastructural challenges facing the school.

He said with the completion of the block, the school now had the capacity to absorb as many as 1,500 students, thus providing access to education to a lot more people in the school’s catchment area.
