Christ the King International School launches 60th anniversary
The Christ the King International School in Accra has launched its 60th anniversary celebration with a call on its old students to help address challenges the school was facing.

The Managing Director of Bulk Oil Storage and Transport Company Limited (BOST), Mr Kingsley Kwame Awuah Darko, who made the call at a launch in Accra, said though the school had won many laurels on the academic front, the lack of infrastructure was gradually affecting the efforts of the school.
“It is my hope that the formidable year groups of the school will commit their finances to address this problem for the school to realise its cherished dream of offering quality education to the students,” he said.
Mr Darko, who is an old student of the school, advised both the current and past students to strive to do their best wherever they found themselves.
The celebration, dubbed: “60 years of holistic quality catholic education towards the development of Ghana”, was to thank God for the successes chalked up by the school since its establishment.
The function was graced by ministers of state, political leaders, members of academia, as well as friends and families of the students.
About the school
Christ the King International School was established on April 5, 1956 with less than 24 pupils, to give children adequate education which would fit them into higher fields of learning.
Contribution laudable
The Headmistress of the school, Dr Sister Jesse Quist, commended the predecessors for laying a solid foundation for the school.
Speaking about the journey so far, she indicated, “It has been one of success as well as a challenge,” adding that she chose to dwell on hope because God had been the strength of the school.
She said the school was faced with some challenges such as inadequate washrooms and changing rooms due to the number of students.
She, therefore, appealed to benevolent organisations, individuals and the alumni to support the school.
Solidarity message
The Minister of Health designate, Mr Alex Segbefia, who is also an old student, urged the students to take their studies seriously and also be prayerful, stressing that prayer was the only answer to their problems.
“Prayer is the foundation to build your life,” he said.
