Christ Apostolic Church International launches scholarship scheme
Christ Apostolic Church International (CACI) has launched a scholarship scheme that will sponsor brilliant, needy students in the church at the senior high school (SHS) and tertiary levels of education.

Currently, a total of 88 students – 15 at the tertiary level and 73 at the SHS level – are benefiting from the scheme, which was initiated in 2010, through the vision of the National Executive Council, under the headship of the CAC Chairman, Apostle Dr Stephen Amoani.
Apostle Amoani said the NEC had observed that there were many brilliant, needy students in the church who were unable to continue their education.
“There are many brilliant, needy students, and we must all support them,” he said at a church service in Accra last Sunday to introduce the beneficiaries of the scholarship scheme to the members of the church.
The CACI has chalked up many successes in the past in respect of propagating the gospel in Ghana and Africa and is now charting a new path in social intervention, particularly in the areas of agriculture and education.
A cassava-growing and processing project initiated by the church at Atebubu in the Brong Ahafo Region has proved to be highly successful, having attracted funding from the Bill Gate Foundation.
The scholarship scheme is one of the flagships of the church’s new focus on social intervention to promote the cause of the underprivileged in the church and society in general.
In the 2010/2011 academic year, the church sponsored two students at the tertiary level and 20 students at the SHS level under the scholarship scheme.
The number of beneficiaries increased to seven and 25 students at the tertiary and SHS levels, respectively, in the 2011/2012 academic year, while in the 2012/2013 academic year, six students at the tertiary level and 28 students at the SHS level benefited from the scheme.
It is being operated with funds from the church’s treasury and supplemented by proceeds from fundraising and love-demonstrating activities.
The Chairman of the CACI Scholarship Committee, Rev. George Anto-Boateng, said the Bible enjoined Christians to train their children in a way that they would not depart from when they became adults.
He added that through the scholarship scheme, the CACI was helping in the training of the youth to take good care of themselves and their children.
Rev. Anto-Boateng also said applicants for the scholarship at the SHS and tertiary levels would be considered on the basis of their performance at the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and the West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), respectively.
He urged prospective applicants to seek admission to the Christ Apostolic University, pointing out that the scholarship committee would give preference to those who sought admission to that university.
Rev. Anto-Boateng thanked the NEC for its financial assistance and guidance and urged members of the church to contribute towards the scholarship scheme.
