The old school blocks are in a dilapidated state and expose pupils and teachers to danger.

The parish priest for Blekusu, Very Reverend Patrick Sachie Asamoah said the church was 100 years old in the area and found it appropriate to launch an appeal for funds in aid of the project as part of the centenary celebration in September, this year.

He said the two school blocks were built in 1920 and 1940 respectively and had never seen any renovation since those times, adding that only the roofing sheets had been replaced a couple of times and that the two blocks were in such a deplorable state that it was considered unsafe and inadvisable to attempt to renovate them.

He said the parish had earmarked the construction of a two-storey building that would have eight classrooms, a library/computer room, a head teacher’s office and a teaching staff common room with a spacious and well-protected verandah to facilitate easy movement of pupils.

According to Very Rev. Asamoah, the estimated cost of the project had been pegged at GH¢300,000, adding that every citizen of Blekusu was expected to pay a fixed levy in addition to internally generated funds from the sale of premix fuel in the community, to finance the project.
