Ban teachers from selling in schools
The Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Mr John Nii Ephraim, has appealed to the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service to ban teachers from selling in schools.

According to him, such a move would help prevent teachers, particularly those at the lower primary, from turning their respective classrooms into market centres, at the expense of the academic growth of pupils.
Mr Ephraim made the appeal when he addressed the 90th anniversary celebrations of the St John the Divine Anglican Church at Winneba in the Central Region.
It was held on the theme: “Pressing towards the goal.”
He said some female teachers at basic schools had resorted to selling biscuits, soft drinks, toffees and other food items while classes were in progress.
He said the sale of items in classrooms had the tendency to distract the attention of pupils when lessons were going on.
Mr Ephraim also said it was totally unacceptable to enter a classroom and find out that even though it was not time for break, the teacher was selling some food items to the schoolchildren and they would be spotted eating while learning.
He said basic schools, which formed the foundation of the education of every schoolchild, must be taken seriously and teachers at that level must live up to expectation.
He lauded the church for its contribution towards the progress of the country, and called on it to focus more on building the capacity of the youth so that they could actively participate in the growth of the country.
The Bishop of the Cape Coast Diocese, Rt Rev. Daniel Sylvanus Adotei Allotey, expressed gratitude to the founder members of the church and successive bishops for the immense contributions towards the growth of the church.
He stressed that love was the bedrock of every society, and urged the church to be exhibit love.
The Omanhen of the Effutu Traditional Area, Neenyi Ghartey VII, commended the church for its contribution to the development of the Effutu State and with a call on members to preserve the memory of the founder members.
