The package will cover the beneficiaries’ fees for their three-year SHS education.

Each student will receive GH¢1,200.00 every academic year.

Fourteen of the students are at the Brakwa Senior Technical High School, while the rest are studying in other senior high schools in the area.

She has also presented laptops and educational materials to two students who excelled in the 2014 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and two pupils who performed creditably in the 2014 Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE)

Mrs Nkrumah Aboah presented cheques to the students during the district’s 58th Independence Anniversary parade held at the Breman Asikuma Senior High School (BASS) park.

MP’s address

She said the beneficiary students were carefully selected and that the scholarship would give them the opportunity to acquire education that would enable them to live meaningfully in the future and contribute to the nation’s development.

Mrs Aboah said as an educationist, she was committed to improving education at the basic and senior high school levels, pointing out that the best way to improve education in the area was to institute a scholarship, which would encourage students to study hard.

She was optimistic that the gesture would be sustained to relieve their parents of the burden of paying fees,  adding that “in the coming years, more students will benefit from the scheme.”

Advice to students

She advised the students to take their studies seriously and avoid anti-social practices that could disrupt their academic pursuits.

She added that as the MP for the area, she would ensure an improvement in the standard of education and urged students to study hard in order to benefit from the scheme.
