American Statistical Association honours Dr Richard Entsuah
The American Statistical Association (ASA) has honoured Dr A. Richard Entsuah, a Ghanaian in the US, as a Fellow of the ASA.

Dr Entsuah, the Head of Research Group 4 and Executive Director of the Biostatistics and Research Decision Sciences (BARDS) at Merck Research Labs in the United States of America, was awarded a certificate at the 175th annual Joint Statistical Meetings in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, last year.
To be recognised as a 2014 ASA Fellow, each honouree made outstanding professional contributions and exhibited leadership in the field of statistical science.
Dr Entsuah was honoured for his substantial contribution to the application of statistical research to drug development and psychiatric research, for his contribution to the development of missing data methods and related software; for promoting statistics as an excellent mentor and teacher, especially to minority students, and for exemplary leadership in pharmaceutical industry.
Accomplishments
“I congratulate Richard on being honoured as a new ASA Fellow,” said ASA President, Nathaniel Schenker.
“His accomplishments have contributed greatly to the advancement of statistical science and have rightfully earned him the respect and admiration of his ASA peers,” he said.
Nominees
To be honoured, nominees must have an established reputation and must have made outstanding contributions in statistical science. The Committee on Fellows evaluates each candidate’s contributions to the advancement of statistical science and places due weight to published works, the position held with their employer, ASA activities, membership and accomplishments in other societies and other professional activities.
Dr Entsuah who obtained a B.Sc.(Hons) in Mathematics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, also holds a Doctorate Degree (Ph.D.) in Biostatistics from the University of Michigan and Diploma in Sampling University of Michigan, among other qualifications.
