Alpha Beta wins 2016 best ‘A’ level school at British Council CIE awards

Alpha Beta Christian College has won three awards at the annual Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) Awards organised by British Council in Accra.

The school won the overall Award as the Best Advanced level School in Ghana (based on A Level examination scores) among 39 British Council attached Schools offering the Cambridge International Examination in the country.

Ms Esi Otchere (Class of 2016) also won two awards, Best A Level results in French and Sociology.

This made it the third time Alpha Beta Christian College was picking the same award, having won it in 2011 and 2014 since the annual awards were established 6 years ago.
The glitzy awards ceremony held on Friday in Accra was attended by special guests from Cambridge International Examinations Board in the UK, staff and students of the 39 British Council attached schools offering the Cambridge International Examination programme.

“We are excited about this award because the students worked hard, the teachers worked hard and the entire Alpha Beta Christian College Team has been phenomenal”, Mrs Florence Adjepong, Principal of the school stated, adding that “indeed this is the doing of the Lord”.

Alpha Beta Christian College prides itself with high academic achievement by providing a conducive and fully equipped environment with experienced teachers where young leaders are able to excel.

The Adinkrahene Leadership Program which is integrated into the curriculum at Alpha Beta Christian College helps students to develop their leadership skills and become self-motivated towards the achievement of their academic goals.

Young people get to understand that high grades and a good personal development track record gives them a lot more options as exhibited by several Alpha Beta graduates who have gone on to receive scholarships and opportunities to study in universities all over the world.

The Operations Manager of the school, Dr Mrs Naomi Wallace-Bruce in a statement said Ms. Esi Otchere of the Class of 2016 who won the awards was currently studying at the African Leadership University in Mauritius on a scholarship.

For her A Levels she obtained A*results in French (92%) and Sociology (92%) and an 'A' grade in Applied ICT (85%).
