Speaking at a short ceremony to presentat  the bowls, the President of the group, Mr Christian Addo, said they decided to respond to the appeal the school made to them to urgently help to replace the facility at the girls dormitory.

According to him, as beneficiaries of the school’s virtues and training, they had a responsibility to assist in its development to offer the younger ones, who are the future leaders of the country, similar and even better training for a holistic development.

Appeal to old students

He appealled to other old student groups to extend a helping hand to enable the school to provide students with the necessary and required training.

The headmaster of the school, Mr Emmanuel Tawiah, called on past students of the school to contribute their quota to support infrastructural development in the institution. He stressed that the school, which was built to accommodate about 600 students, now had about 3000, thus putting undue pressure on the limited infrastructural facilities available.

Challenges

He explained that encroachment on the school’s land had become one of the major problems confronting it, and called for support to fence it to ensure the safety of students.

“People are encroaching on our lands; someone is building a storey building here, so even when the girls are bathing some people are curious to see them; we need a fence; it is very important to make sure the students are kept within the four walls of the school,” he said.

He also mentioned the lack of a good road network, inadequate space to accommodate students in the dining and assembly halls.

The senior housemaster, Mr Alexander Glah, who received the items on behalf of the school, expressed its appreciation to the group for the gesture.
