ADISCO old students support alma mater

The 1989 year group of the Old Boys Association of the Adisadel College in Cape Coast is undertaking a number of projects for the school.
Members of the group have purchased a US$30,000 electricity generator to beef up energy supply for the school.

The group will also donate a number of streetlights to the school and present the generator to commemorate the school’s 104th Speech and Prize-giving Day, which starts from March 6 to be climaxed on March 8.

Speaking in Accra on Tuesday at a ceremony to launch activities to commemorate the event, the founder of the 1989 Old Boys Association, Mr Emmanuel Jeffrey, said it was the tradition of the school to accord each year group the mandate to support the school. He added that the 1989 year group had been handed the baton to organise this year’s event.

“This is our time to labour for the young people to share the glory. For us, we are giving back to the school in appreciation of the fact that we went to one of the best schools in Ghana,” he said.

The launch, he said, was to create awareness of the celebration and to keep the public abreast of the efforts of the 1989 year group.

The Co-ordinator of the 1989 year group, Mr Stanley Martey, said the group would continue to implement measures that would help to address some of the current problems facing the school.

He underscored the immense contribution of the school towards national development and paid tribute to the founders. He also urged the old boys to see the school as their larger family and ensure that its values and traditions were well maintained.

“Today, we find ourselves doing well in our various fields of endeavours. We have all classes of professionals among us and our successes are attributed to the strict disciplinary training and upbringing from Adisco. We are proud to acknowledge this wherever we find ourselves,” he stressed.
