Adamus awards scholarships to 50 students

The students and the some staff of Adamus Resources Limited.Adamus Resources Limited has presented a cheque for U$70,000 as scholarship for 50 brilliant, needy students in seven of the company’s operating communities to pursue tertiary education at the start of the 2013/2014 academic year.

The scheme, dubbed, “Nwoma Moale Sukwa”, was instituted during the 2011/ 2012 academic year as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility.

It has so far benefited communities such as Salman, Akango, Duale, Aluku, Teleku Bokazo, Anwia and Kikam.

Launching the 2013/2014 edition of the scheme at Nkroful in the Ellembelle District in the Western Region, the acting General Manager of Adamus Resources Ltd, Mr Gift Walter Agbey, said education, health, water and sanitation were three thematic areas that were of concern to the company.

He stressed the importance of education to the socio-economic development of the nation, adding that education was the best legacy any parent could bequeath his or her children and explained that the objective of the “Nwoma Moale Sukwa” was to promote education in the project area to reduce poverty.

The District Chief Executive for Ellembelle, Mr Daniel Eshun, who presided over the presentation, admonished students to study hard to complement the efforts of their parents to educate them.

The acting Chief of Kikam Divisional Area, Nana Kwesi Amihere, commended Adamus Resources Ltd for the scheme and advised the beneficiary students against tendencies that were likely to derail the gains made by various stakeholders in their education.
