The event, which was on the theme: “Creating Entrepreneurs in the 21st Century: The Teacher Factor”, was to encourage the teachers to be innovative. It  was also to educate the teachers on the need to make entrepreneurship part of the various subjects they taught.

Problem solvers

Speaking at the programme, the Chief Executive Officer of the Kama Group, Dr Michael Agyekum Addo urged the participants to place great emphasis on the practical aspects of what they taught and also train students to be problem solvers and equip them with the skills to set up their own businesses. He added that if this was properly done, students will learn not to depend solely on others for employment.

According to him, the inability of most graduates to provide practical solutions to the problems facing society was one of the reasons why unemployment was so high in the country.

Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurs, he said, do not only provide jobs for people, but they also provide solutions to certain problems facing society.

The Headmistress of the school, Mrs Beatrice Adom, said the seminar was part of many programmes organised by the school to help sharpen the skills of the teachers before the new academic year begins.
