40 Students receive scholarship package

Forty brilliant, needy senior high students in the Bosomtwe District in the Ashanti Region have been presented with a scholarship package to cover the full payment of their boarding and registration fees for their final examination.

The scholarship, presented by the Lake View Foundation, a Jachie-based non-governmental organisation (NGO), is made up of GH¢6,000 for boarding students, while the day students among them received GH¢2,000 to cover school fees and other bills they will incur in the course of their education till they complete their senior high education.

The recipients, who were selected from the 66 communities in the district, were made up of 17 females and 23 males.

The presentation of the scholarship was also used to launch the foundation which seeks to support over 500 brilliant, needy students to enable them to pursue higher education.

The Chief Executive Officer of the foundation, Dr Yaw Adu-Twum, said there was the need for the needy in society to be assisted to attain education to empower them economically after their education to fend for themselves, and further appealed to parents to assist their children by providing them with all their needs at school.

The District Chief Executive for Bosomtwe, Madam Veronica Antwi-Adjei, commended the foundation for the support and said it had come to ease the burden of some parents who could not afford the education of their children at the secondary level.

She pledged the assembly’s support  towards the sustenance of the foundation to enable many more students to benefit from its operation.
