Each of the participants was presented with a certificate of participation at the end of the workshop.

The workshop was sponsored by BINGO, a German environmental foundation, which donated 30 computers to be installed at the ICT centre at Agona Nyakrom. It was also supported by the German Senior Experts Service, which also provided financial resources for the training.

Closing ceremony

Addressing the participants during the closing ceremony, the President of the Association of Forest for West Africa, Germany, Dr Sam Kwesi Essiamah, who spearheaded the workshop, said the training was intended to equip the teachers with the basic knowledge in ICT to enhance their delivery in the classroom.

According to him, acquisition of knowledge and skills in ICT offered a unique opportunity for students to broaden their knowledge in order to be competitive in their field of work in future.

He advised the teachers to acquire computer skills so they would be more efficient in their chosen profession for the broader benefit of their students.

Municipal Director of Education

The Agona West Municipal Director of Education, Mr Francis Obeng Ampadu, in a speech read on his behalf, commended Dr Essiamah for playing an instrumental role in the organisation of the workshop as it would enhance teaching and learning in schools.

He thanked the participants for availing themselves to take part in the training, adding that “ICT had become part of our daily lives and its usage in the education sector would help improve standards.”

He urged the participants to put the knowledge acquired to good use as well as ensure that the School children beneffited from what they had learnt.

The Chairman for the occasion, Nana Odompanin, the Guantoahene of Agona Nyakrom Traditional Area, urged the participants to reciprocate the knowledge acquired through the training by imparting what they had learnt to their students.
