Work in progress

During a visit to the construction sites by the Communication Specialist of SEIP, Mr Paul Kofi Krampa, it was realised that various categories of workers were busy working, while the clerks of work were closely monitoring the progress of work.

The Kpone Kantamanso Day SHS project is being executed by Krane Constructions Ltd and Tonynan Company Ltd, while that of the Adentan is being carried out by Antartic Works Company Limited. The Kwabenya one is being executed by Construction Logistics, with GR Services Construction Limited and Conpro Limited serving as the consultant for all the three projects.

Two lots

Each of the day SHS is made up of two Lots. Lot A is made up of the E-block and the Gate House and external works, while Lot B is made up of a three-bedroom headmaster’s bungalow with a two-bedroom boys’ quarters, an eight-unit two-bedroom teachers’ flats and a multi-purpose canteen.

The 24-classroom E-block houses a science laboratory, a library and a computer laboratory, offices for the headmaster and heads of departments, as well as a teachers’ common room.

The three SHSs

At the Kpone Day SHS, Mr Krampa was conducted round the project site by the Clerk of Works, Mr Evans Adu, who said work was progressing steadily and gave an assurance that works would be complete early enough for admission for the 2016/2017 academic year.

He said so far, the project was 90 per cent completed and stated that even though the schedule for the completion was October ending, “We believe we can complete works by the end of this month.”

At Kwabenya, the Clerks of Works of the project, Messrs Prince Boateng and Peter K. Sarbah, who conducted the team round the project, explained that Lot B was 95 per cent complete, while the Lot A was 85 per cent complete.

At the Adentan Day SHS, the Civil Engineer of the consultants, Conpro Limited, Mr Mawuli Bobobee, said the Lot A was 90 per cent complete, while Lot B was 99 per cent complete and said within two weeks, works would be completed.

All set for admission

Mr Krampa said the headmasters and teachers for the three SHSs were set, while furniture for the schools were also ready.

He explained that the three SHSs were part of 23 others which were being funded by the World Bank under the SEIP to improve secondary education in the country.
