2016 WASSCE takes off today
This year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) takes off today across the country.

Two hundred and seventy-four thousand, two hundred and fifty-five candidates will be writing the examination.
Out of the number, 141,524 are males and 132,731 females.
Statistics available at the West Africa Examinations Council (WAEC) indicate that the candidates are from 897 schools and would be writing at 667 centres in all the 10 regions.
The Ashanti Region will be presenting 62,120 candidates, representing the highest number of candidates, while the Upper West Region would be presenting 8,573 candidates representing the least.
Seven of the candidates are Togolese.
The WAEC wishes all the candidates good luck and has advised them to avoid all acts that might affect them negatively.
