187 Facilitators receive awards

Facilitators who took part in the Complementary Basic Education (CBE) programme in four districts of the Northern Region at Sawla, have been presented with an award package, valued at GH¢ 54,102.00.

The 187 facilitators were from the Bole, Sawla/Tuna/Kalba (STK), Kpandai and East Gonja districts. Each of the 147 facilitators who had completed a full year on the programme, received brand new bicycles while the remaining 40, who had done less than a year, received GH¢150.00 each.

Under the CBE programme, a total of 8,950 out-of-school children, between the ages of eight and 14 years were enrolled and taught basic literacy and numeracy skills in their local languages between 2013 and 2015. Out of this number, a total of 7,719 children, made up of 48 per cent girls, who completed the nine-month course in all the four districts, have been enrolled into formal education, with the Bole and Sawla/Tuna/Kalba districts, accounting for 3,472 children who completed the nine-mont
