12 Teachers to lose jobs over fake certificates
The Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) has requested the Ghana Education Service (GES) to stop the salaries and allowances of 12 teachers for allegedly gaining employment with the service by using fake certificates.

The BNI released the names of the affected teachers and their staff identification numbers as Osei Kobuaah Gyampo, (GOV10119294G) of the St Paul’s Anglican Primary; Fosua Linda (GOV10117392N) of the Nkonsia Presby ‘A’ Primary; Bawa Yennumitipo (GOV10145679T) of the Amponsakrom L/A Primary; Owusu Baanie Bright (GOV10145944P) of the Botenso L/A Primary; Yeboah Misaa Angela (GOV10144294S) of the Bonkro L/A Primary and Musah Kassim, 855435, Asuofri R/C Primary School.
The rest are Abdul Rahman Ibrahim Saeed, 850462; Alhaji Beni, Islamic Basic School; Ameyaw Mensah, 313037, Asampu Methodist Primary; Ibrahim Hussein Zebeir, 724088, Aswaq Basic School; Zakaria Abubakari, 568127, Aswaq Basic School; Daniel Frimpong, 647182, Nyinamponase Primary and Frimpong Manson Esther, 727893, Asunao Salvation Army Primary.
The BNI has also requested the GES to furnish it with the total salary they had each wrongfully enjoyed since their recruitment.

The bureau further requested the GES to stop the salary and allowance of Joseph Kwabena Gyebi of the Kasam SDA Primary School for gaining employment with another person’s certificate.
“Also furnish us with the total salary he has wrongfully enjoyed since his recruitment,” a statement signed for the Director of the BNI, Mr Charles Akrong, said.
GES response
In a response to the request of the BNI, the Director of Human Resource Management of the GES, Ms Gertrude Mensah, said, “I wish to inform you that action has been taken on all the 12 names submitted.”
A statement signed by Ms Mensah quoted the Integrated Personnel Payroll Database (IPPD) system of the GES as saying that all the names of the affected teachers were active, adding, “Their salaries have been stopped against March 2016.”
She, however, advised the BNI to channel that request to their respective districts where they were currently working.
Determination of GES
Throwing more light on the list, the Head of the Public Relations Unit of the GES, Rev. Jonathan Bettey, said the Director-General of the GES, Mr Jacob Kor, had directed all district directors of the service to ensure that they cleaned the system of fake teachers.
He said Mr Kor was committed to cleaning the service to ensure that only genuinely qualified teachers were in the system.
Rev. Bettey warned that the GES was working in collaboration with the National Security to smoke out all those drawing salaries illegally with fake certificates.
He, therefore, warned those who were in the system with such certificates to either own up, or else they would be exposed and dealt with according to the law.
