Mighty Jets to crush Amidaus in MTN FA Cup?

This season’s MTN FA Cup gets underway this weekend as the Division One League (DOL) clubs vie to get into the main competition from the preliminary round.

With former champions, Nania FC planning to compete against the elite teams again, and last year finalists, Okwahu United also keen to relive those glorious moments, their opponents for this preliminary round must brave themselves for a stiff contest.

Okwahu play Tema-based True Democracy while Nania face Uncle T Stars.

However, the spotlight will be on the match between former Ghana Premier League (GPL)       campaigners, Mighty Jets, and Amidaus Professionals as they set out to offer their fans a glimpse of their old self when they clash on Sunday.

Both teams have been unsuccessful in their attempt to regain promotion to the elite league but Sunday’s game presents a fine opportunity for them to show their fans that they are ready to take on the big guns in the elite league.

Interestingly, both teams find themselves in Zone 3 of the DOL and are not new to each other, but their contrasting outings on the league table make Mighty Jets favourites of this encounter.

Amidaus Professionals have just four points in five matches and are 13th on the league table, unlike Mighty Jets who are sixth with seven points, clearly determined to bounce back to the top flight football.

Strangely, after winning the competition some six seasons ago, Nania, have been consigned to obscurity and have barely made any impact since, but their game against Uncle T Stars could revive their quest to be champions again.

Sporting Mirren will take on Madina Republicans, Vision FC play Charity Stars, Emmanuel City FC host Young Wise, Danbort FC welcome Okwawu United while True Democracy play Zein FC.

In the Eastern Region, Bepong Believers FC will play Kotoku Royals, Okyeman Planners will engage Blue Skies, Akosombo FC will engage Phar Rangers and Mampong Unique FC welcome Dreams FC while Narita FC play Akroso Royals FC.

Eleven Wise and New Edubiase are expected to light up the Western Region fixtures. Wassaman FC will play Karela FC, Rail Stars battle Dunkwa United, Westlanders host Gold Stars and Juaboso All Stars and Samartex clash.

Fijai Real United play Hemanman FC. Dolphins FC will clash with Enchi All Stars while Sekondi Hasaacas battle Nzema Kotoko.
