Goodies of healthy diet

These are testimonies I hear from such people and not only a figment of my imagination. It is real and true. There is a general feeling of wellness that emanates from the smiles on the faces of the people who follow my dietary advice.

The joy comes from within and is best described by them. You may want to talk to someone who has experienced this good feeling and hear the testimony from the horse’s own mouth.

Managing chronic diseases

I have come to the realisation that what most people suffering from diabetes, hypertension, stroke, arthritis, among others, need is simply a change in their diet and not the unprecedented chase of those medications and potions that promise the much needed cure.

When you modify your diet, thus switch from eating junks and bad food to eating a well planned and executed meals, you are actually attacking the root cause of most of these diseases and conditions. That is the way to go, prevention is better than cure.

Give dietary modification a chance. It is even better for those who want to prevent these kinds of diseases to stay on a healthy diet plan; that is you and I.

It is very interesting and sad how people are very ready to take care of their health and pay huge bills in times of sickness. They are ready to go all lengths just to preserve their lives when there is sickness.

Organisations are ready to pay huge medical bills for their employees but they are never ready to commit themselves to activities that will help those employees prevent illness. This is really sad.

For example in Ghana today if someone decides to lose weight with the assistance of a dietician, their health insurance company refuses to pay the bills. Those same companies will pay any amount quoted for drugs if the policy holder were to fall ill.

Which is better for the one involved; to take steps to prevent the long lasting diseases or to suffer from them and have their drugs bought for them? I will choose the former. What about you?

There is now even a challenge with the system. It is very difficult for those who want to see dieticians for some advice on how to manage their chronic condition to get access to one.

This is because there are only very few dieticians in the system.
