Aside honouring people who have excelled in the fashion industry,  it was also a time where a variety of fashion designs sprouted from the backyards of little known designers onto the limelight.

As a result, patrons were treated to three runway shows by Centric Styles, DSG Model Management and students of Joyce Ababio College of Creative Design.

As the models mounted the runway and strutted the funky, delightful and head-turning works from designers such as Dami Rose, Lokita, Akosua Baffuor Awuah, Kwaku Agyenim Boateng, among others, it became clear that the Ghanaian fashion industry abounds in immense talent.

The winners for this year’s Ghana Fashion Awards are: Emerging Designer – Ato Tetteh, Designer of the Year – Sima Brew, Accessory Designer of the Year (Jewelry) – Joyce Owusu (Purple Trendz), Accessory Designer of the Year (Bags, Sandals) – Mpaboa.

The rest are Female Fashion Celebrity Icon of the Year – Sandra Ankobiah, Male Fashion Celebrity Icon of the Year – Okyeame Kwame, Fashion Photographer of the Year – Duke Tetteh Quarshie, Male Model of the Year – Meek Ghartey, Female Model of the Year – Leana Efia Apenteng.

Speaking at the event Mr. Akwasi Agyeman, Chief Executive Officer of Global Media Alliance Broadcasting Company (GMABC), operators of e.TV said the awards scheme aims among others to bring together and harness the shared aspiration, skills and knowledge of all designers and the fashion community to thrive for excellence.

“The Ghana Fashion Awards, instituted to honour those in the fashion industry and its affiliates, also seeks to create a platform where creativity, tradition, poise and elegance come together under one roof to create an amazing experience for an industry worth celebrating”.

He added that in recent times, many people have sought to promote fashion at the highest level and as organisers of the Ghana Fashion Awards, “we doff our hats to those who through thick and thin have kept the industry going”.
