The black tie dress code often applies to evening function wear suitable for very formal occasions. Should you based on the dictates on the invite decide that you will prefer to wear a Tuxedo, there are a couple of things you need to know.
First, a tuxedo is way different from a suit in terms of the physical. The difference is that tuxedos have satin facing on the lapels, buttons, pocket trim and a satin side stripe down the leg of the trousers.
Suits don’t incorporate any satin and usually have either plastic buttons or buttons faced with the same fabric as the coat. Take a look at the pictures below.

You will need to also choose the style of the tuxedo; single breasted or double breasted tuxedo, as well as whether you will you want a cummerbund or vest tuxedo and of course your choice of either a bow tie or a regular tie to complete your look!
Your tuxedo can be either in black or midnight blue accompanied with a cummerbund or black waist coat, silk bow tie, a dress shirt definitely a Marcella or a pleated front, with French cuff and of course, cufflinks.
Shirt studs for tuxedo are optional and will depend on individual preference. Finally, you complete your look with a pair of black oxford styled shoes which are a must with your silk or woollen socks.We note ,however, that that white jackets (Ivory coloured) are worn during hot weather.
Types of tuxedo
We need to understand that men also have different body types just as women. One great key to choosing a perfect tuxedo is to begin by identifying what body type you fall into. It presupposes that not all tuxedo styles will necessarily look good on everyone.
There are styles of tuxedo which can elongate your frame using factors such as buttons and lapels. There are some styles of tuxedo which of course will look much better on a large man than a slender man. For instance, a double breasted tuxedo will guarantee a better fit if you a large sized man.
