Super Plus Beauty Academy holds graduation

The immediate past president of the Greater Accra Ghana Hairdressers and Beauticians Association (GHABA), Mrs. Christiana Okine, has advised the youth not to look down on vocational and technical training in the course of their education.

They should rather grab the opportunity and become skilled to make them self employable in future.

Mrs. Okine gave the advice when she addressed the 12th graduation of Super Plus Beauty Academy, (SPBA) at Tema. In all, 84 young ladies graduated in cosmetology, hairdressing, beauty therapy, make-up artistry, nail technology, braiding and bridal dressing.

Mrs. Okine, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Nouvelle Beauty College called on the graduands to uphold their professional ethics for the benefit of society.

“Hairdressing and beauty care are very demanding professions and image is of great importance within the beauty industry. First impression always counts and clients normally make a visual imagination of the ability and type of service they are to receive.

“ You should also be honest, humble and sincere as you utilise the skills learnt to achieve success. And always remember to take advantage of every opportunity that come your way”, she added.

The Director of SPBA, Mr Eric Bose Duker, said in a country affected by excessive youth unemployment, SPBA is strategically positioned to actively raise the quality of life of the youth by offering them an opportunity to acquire vocational skills for the economic benefit for themselves and the country in general

He entreated the graduands to be hardworking and good ambassadors of the school.

On her part, Mrs. Juliana Bose-Duker, Director of Education at SPBA said relevant education is one that gives students career related experience and she is optimistic, “ the new educational reform in Ghana, which recognises technical and vocational education would lead to the training of more young people and give them the opportunity to acquire employable skills in the hair and beauty industry”.

She noted that “today, beauty is highly commercialised, I, therefore, urge you the graduands to keep developing yourselves in order to be above competition.”

The 84 students who enrolled in the one and half year  course were presented with certificates with the overall best student award going to Ms Dorothy Sasu.
