Sarkodie gives Ghana a wonderful Christmas present with Rapperholic

Rapperholic, an annual music concert by multiple award winning Ghanaian rap artiste Sarkodie, came off on Christmas day at the Accra international centre with a host of popular Ghanaian musicians and renowned African celebrities teaming up to support the celebration of the legacy of Ghana's biggest rap icon.

The show was divided into two musical parts with the first part filled with up tempo beats and strong rap lyrics from the likes of Kwesi Arthur, B 4 Bonah, Yaa Pono, Jayso, Episode, Teephlow, AI, Lil Shaker, Kuami Eugene, Kidi and Article Wan. Ghana's three most popular female rap artistes, Feli Nuna, Eno, and Freda Rhymz, also gave a trio performance at the first part of the show. Ghanaian dance hall superstar, Shatta Wale, also graced the event as he co-hosted a portion of the show with TV host Jay Folee, and thrilled the audience with very funny statements and a very brief performance of his hit track 'Freedom'.

The breath taking part of the entire event was when rap legend, Obrafuor, joined Sarkodie on stage to perform. It was a reunion of the biggest exports from the camp of the Last 2 music record label and the audience loved it as they even performed classic tracks from Obrafuor's previous albums. Sarkodie was backed by a UK based band called the Composers who delivered live rhythmic beats and melodies with a set of drums and a bass guitar.

The second part of the show took a lower tempo with highlife rhythms, love songs and some comic rap dominating most of the performances. Such performances were delivered by Akwaboa, Kurl Songz, Edina, Becca, Samini, Magnum, Joey B, R2Bees, and Captain Planet. The surprise came when Nigerian star act, Korede Bello, walked on stage to do a joint performance with Sarkodie on their hit single 'Far Away.'

Sarkodie performed together with almost all the musicians who were present at the concert and had a song which featured him or vice versa. The well-arranged and strategic schedule for each appearance provided a smooth and enjoyable transition from performance to performance thereby maintaining the excitement and suspense throughout the event.

King Sark closed the event in tears as he performed a thank you song backed by a saxophonist as he rapped emotionally to appreciate the Almighty God for bringing him thus far.
