Peace comes through spiritual warfare

Though Ghana is widely touted as a peaceful country, singer Bernice Ansah says that peace can be easily derailed if people do not continue to incessantly pray for the nation.

In her view, the peace we have now must not be taken for granted and that praying for the nation entails battles that must be intensely fought in the spiritual realm.

Speaking ahead of her National Believers All Night 2016 event scheduled for August 18 at the Accra International Conference Centre, the three-time Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) nominee said we must not be complacent about peace-building.

“The period that we sit back and shout from the roof tops that we are a peaceful people is when the devil begins to sow seeds of discord among us. That’s why the Bible enjoins us to pray without ceasing,” Bernice said.

Different organisations and individuals have embarked on peace campaigns as the general elections approach. There is widespread concern that conflict, fuelled by partisan pronouncements and actions, could break out if people are not sensitized enough on the need for peace.

Theme for the upcoming all-night prayer session is ‘Demoting Obstacles That Hinder Peaceful Elections.’

“Some countries that have seen conflict assumed at some point that they were peaceful places. They didn’t know disaster could happen to them as a result of elections-related troubles.

“Nothing comes easy. That’s why we must stand firm against any powers that seek to bring confusion among us.”

Bernice is known for songs such as Gbenze Gbenze, Immigration Na Ye Tight, You Deserve All The Glory and Turning Around. Her latest single is I Am Free.

Performers at the upcoming event would include Cwesi Oteng, Ernest Opoku, Cecilia Marfo, Joe Dee, Brother Sammy, Bright Gold, Nana Obiri Yeboah, Oheneba Obed, The Preachers, Sandy Bee, Pretty Pat, Kessewaa and Minister Frankie.

The president of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Bice Osei Kufuor, will send a message on behalf of Ghanaian musicians at the event. The union itself has initiated a number of peace-building projects towards the elections.

On whether open partisanship on the part of musicians does not diffuse their calls for peace, Bernice said God has given everyone the sense to choose what they prefer but the choice must not be used to provoke conflict.

The upcoming National Believers All Night 2016 is the second to be organised by Bernice Ansah Ministries.

The first one was held in July 2015 in the wake of the June 3, 2015 Accra flood and fire disaster to pray for such calamities to cease in this country.

Representatives of the various political parties have been invited to the 8.00pm prayer event.
