Oswald for Babishai Poetry Festival
With the revival of poetry and spoken word in Ghana, Oswald Okaitei has emerged as one of the artistes at the forefront of this trend.

From Wednesday, August 24 to August, 26, Oswald is set to represent Ghana at the Babishai Poetry Festival 2016 at Maria’s Place Ntinda in Kuala Lumpa, Uganda.
The festival will host several poets and spoken word artistes from Kenya, Uganda, Gambia, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Botswana, Liberia, South Africa among others.
Some of the artistes billed to perform at the festival include L-Ness, Rap Poet, Lekpele Nyamalon, Maipelo Zambane, Sammy Wetala, Desai Ogada among others with Oswald being the only Ghanaian at the event.
Oswald is noted for spicing his spoken word performances with songs that relate to his poem’s theme, especially Ghanaian folk music, a feat which distinguishes him from others.
This has also propelled him onto several national and international platforms including the World Poetry Radio in Vancouver, Canada.
He has also stage poems from some renowned poets including Prof. Awoonor, Prof. Anyidoho, Prof. Lade Wosornu and Dr. Mawuli Adzei.
In May this year, Oswald was awarded the Pentasi B. Inspirational Poet from Ghana by a Philippines Poetry organisation during the World Poetry Friendship Festival held at Dubois Memorial Centre, Accra.
Supporters of this worthy cause are the Ministry of Tourism, Culture & Creative Arts, Prof. Lade Wosornu, Dr. Gheysika Agambila among others.
