MTN Heroes of Change’ nominations end Nov. 17

The MTN Ghana Foundation has announced that nominations are still opened for entry in the Season IV of MTN Heroes of Change contest till November 17, 2017.

The Foundation is inviting members of the general public to identify individuals in their communities who have done exceptionally well for others and nominate them to be honored as a Hero of Change.

Prospective participants are required to fill nomination forms at www.mtn.com.gh or pick a form at any MTN service centre nationwide before November 17. Alternatively, nominations can be filed via WhatsApp number 055-422-2222.

This year’s edition will also see the addition of a special category which will reward two personalities for their contributions to society through their efforts/works. The special categories will include journalists, radio and television presenters, musicians, actors and sports personalities.

The winners in this category will each receive a plaque, a certificate and monetary award which will be invested in any CSR project of their choice.

After the collection of entries on November 17, the projects submitted will be shortlisted by a panel of judges after which a team will be dispatched into the communities to verify the projects. The work of the 10 shortlisted finalists will be broadcast as part of a 13-week television series.

Selected winners for the categories of health, education and economic empowerment will be recognized and given GH₵30,000 each to expand their projects and impact more people in their communities. The grand award of GH₵100,000 will be given to the finalist who will emerge as the 2017 MTN Hero of Change.

According to the Acting Corporate Services Executive of MTN, Mr. Samuel Koranteng, the MTN Ghana Foundation launched the Heroes of Change to reward ordinary people who make personal sacrifices for the good of their community.

“Through this initiative, we also want to motivate and encourage others to do same. We are therefore urging Ghanaians to nominate outstanding members from their communities to be part of the Heroes of Change before nomination closes on November 17,” he said.

MTN Heroes of Change was initially launched in July 2013 with the aim of identifying and recognizing selfless people who continue to sacrifice their time and resources to improve their communities and brighten lives.

Dr. Abrokwa-Yenkyera, a plastic surgeon and founder of Grafts Foundation, emerged the ultimate winner of the maiden edition in 2014.
