Most Beautiful was tough – Zeinab

She may be the envy of others now as Ghana’s Most Beautiful 2017 but for 23-year-old Zeinab Abdul Mumin, it was a tough journey to winning the crown.

Zeinab represented the Northern Region in the pageant and last Sunday at the Accra International Conference Center, she fended off strong competition from the Central Region’s Baaba (First runner-up), Western Region’s Nana (Second runner-up) and the Eastern Region’s Serwaa (Third runner-up) to win the title.

Speaking with Showbiz moments after she was handed the crown by Yaaba, her predecessor, Zeinab said it had not been a smooth ride.

“Hmm, you see it was not an easy thing for me ohh, I am excited and surprised but the truth is that the journey was not easy, it was really tough. All the ladies were good and it was a bit frightening because it was a competition and we all strived to be the winner.

“Sometimes, I woke up at dawn to go through my lines again because seeing the level to which some of them had mastered their act, I needed to step up my game,” she said.

She said she was shocked when she made it to the finals. “I didn’t see it coming though I would have felt sad if I hadn’t made it.

I told myself even if I did not win when I made it to the finals, I would be happy but look at what God has done,” she said excitedly.

Zeinab also spoke about the impact Ghana’s Most Beautiful had had on her life. “It has been amazing.

Now, I know my body type and what to wear to flatter it. I have learnt etiquette on behaving like a lady and the way I talk and carry myself has also changed.”

For all this polish she has received and more, Zeinab gives most of the credit to her chaperone, Bubune. “She has been amazing. She took her time to groom us and was very patient with us.

She did all she can to bring out the best in us and I’m really grateful for the time she spent on me.”

She also used the opportunity to endorse GMB as the right platform for every lady who wants to be empowered and also be an agent of change.

“This platform is the best I must say. The things we were taught and the knowledge we acquired through research is something I don’t think any platform has the time for.

Through this, I have learnt a lot of things about myself and where I come from. Living with the girls in the house has also given me a deeper understanding of how to live with people,” she said.

She also expressed gratitude to her family, friends and fans for their support as well as the judges for their guidance.

In addition to the beautiful crown, Zeinab also received a KIA Sportage car, a cash prize of GH¢12,000 and an all expenses paid trip to Dubai.

GMB powered by TV3 was sponsored by Sasso Mosquito Spray, GTP, Onga, Erata Motors, Kenya airways, Bond savings and loans among others.
