Modelling not just about pretty face
The modelling industry in Ghana is rising as many young and beautiful ladies crop up to make a name for themselves.
It is therefore not surprising that intelligent beauty, Maud Fadi, believes she does not only have the physical attributes to make it in the fashion world but intellect as well.

The 23-year-old model, who represented Ghana at the 2015 Exquisite Face of Universe in São Tomé and Príncipe,, told Showbiz that being a model is not all about being a pretty face.
“Although there are different forms of modelling, becoming a successful model is not only about having a pretty face. In addition to being able to showcase dresses and accessories and hitting the runways, you also need to have the brains to understand the nature of the work.
“You have to understand how the industry works in terms of the business aspect, especially when it comes to contracts and other business decisions, how your opinion and idea helps in the growth of the industry and your career as well. It is not about how beautiful your face is that makes you a model,” she added.
She said she believes she will hit it big soon as a model, “I know my face is not what makes me a model. I am confident of my success in modelling and the fashion industry, I know I will make it far.”
According to Maud who was crowned Miss Earth Water last October, “Most modelling agencies have very little interest in unearthing and developing new talents. Most of them are looking for already accomplished models which to me is not right.
“They are also looking for the size zero and size six types of models, forgetting about the plus size ones, but currently, the plus size models are also selling well. They need to give up and coming ones the opportunity to exhibit what they have,” she said.
Asked where she got her inspiration from, the native of Old Ningo and a student of Ghana Institute of Journalism said she draws her inspiration from Nigerian super model Oluchi Onweagba and American, Tyra Banks of America’s Next Top Model. “Oluchi and Tyra Banks are my role models, they inspire me and I look up to them. I believe one day I will walk the runway of the America’s Next Top Model contest.”
