Let’s help new talents
When Kwabena Boateng (KB), CEO of KB Empire Record Label established his company last year, his aim was to invest in young talents struggling to make a breakthrough in their career.

In less than a year of existence, the young man who claims to have the interest of Ghanaian music industry at heart says it has not been an “easy trip”.
“Gone were the days when record labels and management companies invested in artistes but the trend has changed because there’s no profit in the music business.
Just last Saturday, I listened to Mzbel on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review and she talked about how she made a fortune from her first album. That was her share of the profit her management at the time made but that can’t be said today because she’s paying her management who she hired to help run her music business.
“Mzbel, I know isn’t the only artiste in this because that has become the trend in recent years. There’s nothing to show for all the investment you make in an artiste and unfortunately, that is killing many young talents who don’t have the means to stand on their own,” he told Showbiz on Tuesday.
To find a solution to what he describes as a “menace killing the music industry”, KB believes MUSIGA and other stakeholders must put in place the right structures to help underground artistes.
He said the aim of his record label which female Afropop artiste, Afiba is signed on is to sell African music beyond the shores of Africa and also give equal opportunity to young artistes who have been relegated to the background.
To keep to the mission, KB Empire has signed on Ghana-based-Nigerian artiste, Iyk Wonder, who will release his new song, Mr DJ which features Togbe, winner of MTN Hitmaker Season 3 tomorrow.
He said his record label, established in 2015 is not only in business to unearth artistes but also groom them to become competitive in an industry that boasts of many unique talents.
