Central Music Awards in December

Organisers of the Central Music Awards (CMA), Candymania Entertainment, have begun preparation towards the 5th edition of the awards which is scheduled for Monday, December 26, at the Centre For National Culture, Cape Coast.

This year’s event is themed, “Be Original, Craft an Identity”. 

Initially, the award was geared towards only musicians who hail from Cape Coast and Elmina but has now been re-branded to embrace all musicians in the Central Region.

In all, there are 18 categories to be awarded. They are Artiste of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Vocalist of the Year, Best Collaboration, New Artiste of the Year, Highlife Song of the Year, Gospel Song of the Year, Best Rapper of the Year, Sound Engineer of the Year and Most Popular Song of the Year, 

The others  are Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year, Hiplife/Hiphop Song of the Year, Best Female Vocalist of the Year, Best Male Vocalist of the Year, Most Popular Ghanaian Song in Central Region, Best Music Promoter, Best Music Video, Hip-Gospel Song of the Year and Life time Achievement Awards.

Apart from recognising the outstanding contributions of up and coming artistes in the region, music legends from the region are also awarded the life time achievement category, for their dedication and contribution to the music industry.

Previous editions saw luminaries such as Ben Brako and Bessa Simons being awarded for their immense contributions to the Ghanaian music industry.
