Stella Feyi outdoors Xorlor Vava
Although she has been resident in Canada for a while, singer, Stella Feyi, still cherishes praising God in her native Ewe language.

Hailing from Tsibu-Awudome in the Volta Region, she has just launched her debut album of seven songs, mostly rendered in Ewe, which attest to God’s goodness and greatness.
Titled Sweet Sweet Friend (XorlorVava) and recorded by Joseph Amoah of Springboard Media Consult in Accra, the album was unveiled last week at the ICGC Restoration Temple, Osu in Accra.
Most of the songs in the collection are smooth, danceable highlife pieces. There are, however, songs with reggae flavour and the slow worship formula which appears on many Ghanaian gospel albums, is also present.
Wokoe Dze Dodo De Dzi (You Are Worthy To Be Praised) is a jumpy track with pumped up bass lines and well-moderated backing voices that pulls the listener to dance and wave an handkerchief.
Married with four children, Mrs Feyi’s Bubu Na Mawu Dzifo Viitor (Glory Be to the Lord in the Highest) is another soul-tickling song.
It is a simple, infectious sing-along track that smacks of a joyous picnic somewhere in the Volta Region.
The title track is a slow one of a woman pouring her heart out to Jesus and upholding Him for being a trusted and sweet friend.
Other songs on the album include the reggae-infused Dzifowo De Gbefa (The Heavens Declare) and another slow-tempo piece called Mawuga (Awesome God).
The overall impression Mrs Feyi creates with her debut album is that loving and praising God can be an enjoyable affair if done with sincerity.
She sings in a clear, unaffected manner and that is what is likely to endear her to many gospel music lovers.
