No competition among gospel artistes

Kumasi based gospel artiste, Doreen Asiamah Yeboah, has ruled out public perception that unhealthy competition among gospel artistes is hindering the industry’s growth.

Speaking with the Graphic Showbiz in an interview last week, she noted that although there may be competition among some gospel artistes for recognition, they haven’t lost the focus to win souls for Christ through their music.

“In recent times, some gospel artistes use their music as a source of earning income since it is their profession but the truth is that, many use it to bring positive change in society. Thus even if there is competition among gospel artistes, it is not the main thing they focus oo,” she stated.

Citing the release of her album titled, ‘Anka Me Nso Me Ne Hwan’ to wit, “Who am I to deserve this?” in the English language to buttress her point, she noted that she was proud to use her music to inspire and encourage people who have lost hope in life not to give up.

She observed that a number of people had been through bitterness and needed encouragement and support to “sail through the turmoil of life”.

“That is why it is necessary to focus on preaching gratitude to the Lord through music,” she said.

To give credence to her belief of assisting the less privileged in the society, Doreen Asiamah presented assorted items worth GH¢6,000 to the Ashan Children’s Home at Denase in the Afigya Kwabre District of the Ashanti Region recently.
