MzVee: Make I Shine not a diss song

Since the release of her new song, Make I Shine, award winning Dancehall artiste has been accused of dissing fellow female artiste, Kaakie.

But the Borkorbor artiste has denied that her new song is a reply to Kaakie’s Sankwas.

In an interview with Graphic Showbiz on Friday, the student of the Ghana Telecom University College said she has no time for “beefing” since that isn’t her style.

“Make I Shine is a motivational song to inspire my fans. It has got nothing to do with hitting back at any one,” she stated.

Speaking on the relevance of the song which is currently enjoying much airplay, the Natural Girl artiste said Make I Shine is the success story of her journey in music and wants to encourage others not be intimadated by others in their quest to fulfill the dreams.

“Many of us are surrounded by people who just want to see us fall which to me is bad and should not be encouraged,” she added.

A Dancehall piece which features reigning VGMA Artiste of the Year, EL,  MzVe brags about how she is not intimidated and does not fear threats from people.

Her goal, as she puts it in the song is to shine and as such, others envious of her success should allow her to enjoy her glory.

Asked why she chose EL as the featured artiste, this is what she had to say: “EL and I connect, he is like my brother in the music industry and he has loads of experience.

“ I thought it wise that having him on the song would be an opportunity to tap into his experience and be a better artiste” the BET nominee added.

Born Vera Hameno-Kpeda, MzVee, was a member of the defunct trio, D3 Girls group. The group released the Good Girls Gone Bad and other songs before they split up.

In 2014,  MzVee started a solo career and got attention with her debut song titled, Borkorborkor. She went on to release other songs such as Natural Girl, Hold Me Now, Abofra among others.

She is a recipient of the 2015 Best Reggae/ Dancehall Song of the Year and the 2016 Best Female Vocal Performance of the Year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards(VGMA).
