She has been preaching the gospel for about 20 years so praising and thanking God is nothing new for Apostle Irene Adu Gyamfi, also known as Mamalistic Mama, but she has now recorded some of those outpourings from her heart on an album called Ebedane.
The 12-track album which will be launched on Sunday, August 7, at the Mountain of Deliverance Ministry International at Abeka Flat Top in Accra, is a collection of upbeat, medium tempo praises and slow worship pieces.
Whatever pace the songs adopts, however, Mamalistic Mama’s aim is to clearly sing about God’s mighty power over all situations and she does that convincingly.
To her, there’s no negative circumstance that God cannot turn around and she urges believers to trust in the mighty name of Jesus throughout the album which was recorded by Nacee, Shadrack Yawson and Joseph Afrika.
The title track is an inspiring, fast-paced horn-dominated piece that implores Christians to look on the bright side of things at all times.
The song features crack instrumentalists like Francis Osei (drums), Osei Tutu (trumpet), Dan Grahl (bass) and Nacee (keyboards and drums).
Most of the songs are in the highlife vein and are sung in Twi. Tracks like Amen, Nkunim, Aseda, Honhonkronkron and Me Boafo reflect Mamalistic’s positive outlook and unshaking trust in God.
Mamalistic is anxiously looking forward to the album launch which she says would be a big concert in honour of God. Guest artistes slated to perform include Daddy Lumba, Nacee, Obaapa Christy, Gifty Osei, Kofi Sarpong, Piesie Esther, Florence Obinim and Jack Alomele.
“They have all given assurances that they will show up so I expect nothing but a spectacular outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the day,” Mamalistic Mama said.
According to her, a segment of the launch programme which kicks off at 11am would be a call by all the artistes present for peace to reign in the country as we approach the December general elections.
