The awards scheme, officially launched at the Paparazzi Lounge, East Legon, on Saturday, March 18, 2017, seeks to foster the existing socio-cultural relationship that exists between the two countries.

It will also offer an avenue to celebrate excellence in various sectors of the arts and entertainment industry.

On the night of the main awards which will be held in Lagos on Sunday, May 14, Ghana’s “contingent” of Sarkodie, Shatta Wale and Bisa Kdei will rival Wizkid, Olamide, Kiss Daniel, Tekno, Yemi Alade, Runtown and Falz for the Artiste of the Year award.

Again, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, EL and Bisa Kdei have tough competition in the Best Male category as they come up against Nigeria’s team of Reekado Banks, Tekno, Phyno, Davido, Olamide, Patoranking, Runtown, Timaya and Falz.

That is not all, Yemi Alade, Cynthia Morgan, Tiwa Savage, Chindinma, Waje, Seyi Shay will be ‘battling’ Ghana’s Efya, Becca, MzVee and Wiyaala for the Best Female Act.

In the Song of the Year category are Mad Over You (Runtown), Pana (Tekno), Mama (Kiss Daniel), Emergency (DBanj) Go Higher (Stonebwoy) and Skin Tight (Mr Eazi & Efya).

The others are Standard (Reekado Banks), Daddy Yo (Wizkid), Fada Fada (Phyno), Mansa (Bisa Kdei), Koko (EL) and Bank Alert (PSquare).

Surprisingly, Sorakiss is the only Ghanaian artiste in the Best New Artiste category and has the toughest task of beating Mr. Eazi, Ycee, Dotman, Mayorkun, Dremo, Sugarboy, Joel, Small Doctor, Humble Smith and Eugy to pick the award.

Apart from highlighting the success of music on the day, the event, which is an initiative of Blue Synergy Media, will celebrate excellence in other sectors of the creative industry including comedy and movie.
