Celestine sings Okonkronkohene

Singer Celestine Donkor has been enchanting music lovers at her annual Celestial Praiz programmes over the last five years and those who have not heard her at any of the shows can now have a taste on a single called Okonkronkohene recorded live last July at the Celestial Praiz 2016.

With the Celestial Band and Mass Choir whipping up some solid rhythms and backing vocals behind Celestine’s soulful voice, the woman christened ‘Gospel Soldier’ by fans several years ago soars extremely high with some inspiring lyrics.

The song is a six-minute single off the live Celestial Praiz 2016 album scheduled for release early next year. What Celestine has done is to give people a peep into the intense musical sessions that unfolded at this year’s event.

The singer is already known for tracks like Supernatural, Manim Nguase, Adekyemu Nsem and Turning Around.

On this new Okonkronkohene song released last week, she pushes herself with superb delivery, riding with ease between low and high vocal registers. The result is a touching piece that exalts God and urges all to appreciate His might.

“I felt people who had not been to any of the Celestial Praiz programmes or could not make it to some editions should not miss out on the totality of blessings that have come our way so far.

“So this new single and the rest of the songs on the upcoming album are just to thank all for the support and to give them a live feel of the abundant anointing that flows at Celestial Praiz,” Celestine said.

The Celestial Band played their hearts out and demonstrated mastery over their various instruments. Their flirtation with rock and blues elements lifted up the song and gave it a character that blended admirably with the delightful voices of the Celestial Mass Choir.
