Building on the old Ghanaian worship song, Yaba oo hyira y3n, Allen does a marvelous rendition giving it a jazzy feel resulting in the piece being soothing to the ear and sending one in a worship mood.

The former student of Valley View University, Ghana, Allen, now a minister at the Calvary Methodist Church, Adabraka, Ghana told Showbiz in an interview on Friday that besides being inspired by God and his mother to sing, he was also inspired to release Yaba because of an experience he encountered.

‘‘The decision to do this song came to mind one day during one of my prayer and worship sessions with a friend over the phone. It was how the original version changed the atmosphere during that session that I took it up and added a twist to it.

“This new single is to also rekindle the Ghanaian’s love for local worship songs.

“Anyone who loves worship and wants to push his or her prayer and worship to a new level should take a listen,’’ Allen said.

Allen who lived in the UK for a while has three albums to his credit— Hiding Place, Alone with the Lord Vol. 1 and Alone with the Lord Vol.2.  He won the Artiste of the Year (Europe) at the Africa Gospel Music Awards in 2014 in UK.

Allen who is the brain behind worship seminar, Worship Surgery, has also authored a book, Unmasking Worship, all to teach people how to worship.
