The main business for which they were in Cape Town was the one day forum which took place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre on Thursday.

It saw journalists arriving from Western, Eastern, Central, Southern and Northern Africa from Tuesday as part of the global electronic brand’s effort to reach out to consumers on the continent.

At the main forum, the President and CEO of Samsung Africa, Mr. Y.Y. Kim thanked the media for making it from all over Africa to be part of the forum. “Thank you for spending a moment of your valuable time with us,” he said.

“Over the past few years, we have held the forum in Europe and this was helpful. Sometimes, we need to step back to get a better view,” Mr. Kim noted.

“But this year we’re back in Africa. We have brought it back because I believe that to know a place, we must stand with its people, we must breathe in its air, we must listen to its heartbeat. In this way we can understand and love Africa.”

The media hosting jetted off with a cocktail and dinner at the plush Shimmy Beach at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town and was climaxed with a sumptuous gala dinner at the Gold Restaurant on Bennet Street on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.

On Friday, the media was divided into several teams and taken on a bus tour of the magnificent city of Cape Town and visits to some of the iconic an historic places in the city.

Among the places that the teams had the privilege of visiting are the South African Museum, the Company Gardens & Parliament buildings, City Hall, Castle of Good Hope and the Malay Quarter/ Bo-Kaap.

Other places visited include the Green Market Square, Signal Hill and Camps Bay & Clifton. The climax of the tour was when the teams climbed up to the 1086 metres high and World Heritage site Table Mountain via the Cable Way.

It was as breathtaking for first time climbers as much as it was for those among the journalists climbing multiple times.

At the main forum on Thursday, the reporters were taken through a tour and demonstration of the Samsung products on display at the forum to know and appreciate them better.

The products include the Wind-Free™ wi-fi enabled air conditioner, the new QLED Q9, Q8, and Q7 TV series with their 100 percent colour volume, the Top Mounted Freezer (TMF) refrigerator range, Samsung’s AddWash™ front-loader washing machines and the MS750 Soundbar.

All these new products and additions to existing products would be available in the different African markets latest by June 2017, according to Samsung officials.
