Yvonne Chaka Chaka headlines African Legends Night

Yvonne becomes the first female musician to headline the show after legends such as Hugh Masekela, Femi Kuti, Freddie Meiway took turns to entertain Ghanaians in previous editions.

She will share the stage with Ghanaian artistes Nat Brew, Akosua Adjapong, Wiyaala among others at the event organised by Global Media Alliance.

The event which has for the past years lived to expectation has hosted Ghanaians artistes such as Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Amakye Dede, Ben Brako and saxophonist Steve Bedi.

Yvonne, also known as the Princess of Africa is expected to thrill her Ghanaian fans to some of her popular songs from her repertoire such as I’m In Love with the DJ, I’m Burning Up, Thank You Mr. DJ, Umqombothi among others on the night.

The multiple award-winning Yvonne has been in the music industry for more than 25 years. She has shared the stage with megastars such as Bono, Angelique Kidjo, Annie Lennox, Youssou N'Dour, Johnny Clegg, Miriam Makeba and Hugh Masekela. 

The artiste, who was once named by Forbes Magazine as one of the top 40 most powerful African celebrities, has performed for Queen Elizabeth, former US President, Bill Clinton, Ex-South African President, Thabo Mbeki, and many other world leaders. 

“While Vodafone is not a new sponsor of this event, we are happy to have them headline the event this year. The African Legends Night honours musicians who have put Africa’s rich culture and heritage on the global stage,” Edwin Amankwah, a Director of Global Media Alliance said.

Over the years, the event has attracted over 1,000 audience to the Banquet Hall with soothing, exciting and danceable African tunes.
