According to Mr Ernest Kwesi Ennin, Chief Executive Officer of Media Excel Productions, the new wave and trend in the Ghana gospel music industry coupled with the large contemporary Christian population in Ghana has created huge followers and fan base for modern gospel musicians in Ghana.

“Some local gospel artistes have emerged as very strong brands rubbing shoulders with their secular counterparts in terms of general appeal, this is evidenced in the fact that some corporate bodies have signed on some prominent local artistes as their brand icons.”

“One of such brands we have in Ghana is the all-time police officer cum gospel musician SP Kofi Sarpong popularly referred to as the King of African Borborbor. With a huge following, he has established himself and his brand as a gospel authority in Ghana and beyond.”

According to Mr Ennin, a lot of people have called on SP Sarpong to hold his own concert having endeared himself to lots of people in and outside Ghana with spectacular performances, “it is against this background that Media Excel, with you as our partners wish to organise the biggest gospel concert dubbed “SP Kofi Sarpong Live In Concert, The Night of Favour.”

The event will showcase spectacular performances from seasoned Ghanaian gospel celebrities like Nacee, Ohemaa Mercy, Joyce Blessing, Gifty Osei, Abena Ruthy, Francis Amoh, Obaapa Christy, Cecy Twum, Uncle Ato, Kingz Kid, Niella among others.

On his part, SP Kofi Sarpong thanked everyone for coming for the media launch and said he was excited about the concert because it is a worthy cause.

“The much-awaited gospel concert, which is expected to attract over 3000 gospel music lovers, is being organised to promote my brand to the next level of my career as a gospel artiste, raise funds to support registration of over 5000 children in some deprived areas for the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) from Jamestown, Chorkor, Mamprobi and of course my hometown in the Brong Ahafo Region,” he said.

The launch was attended by Cecy Twum, Gifty Osei, Joyce Blessing, Abena Ruthy, Kings Kid and Niella.
