GTA honours students

Regarded as the biggest award festival for tertiary students, the night saw students who had excelled in their various fields of endeavour being honoured.

In all, 35 awards were presented on the day among which included Most Influential Student Poet, Most Influential Foreign Student, Most Influential Physically Challenged Student and Most Influential Student Graphic Designer. 

Some of the award winners were Aaron Leslie Adatsi (Most influential Male Student in Acting), Fella Makafui (Most Influential Female Student in Acting), ZionFelix (Most Influential Student Blogger), Young Wild and Free (Most influential Youth Radio Show), Jacinta Ocansey (Most Influential Student Comedian) and Winifred Selby who won the Overall Student of the Year.

Mr Kwabena Anokye Adisi aka Bola Ray, CEO of EIB Network, was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his tremendous contribution to the Ghanaian media. 

Award-winning international model, Victoria Michaels was honoured with a humanitarian award.

In his acceptance speech, Bola Ray entreated the students to make good use of their time in tertiary education since it’s the best time of their lives.

The night emceed by MCs Maudlyn Arday, Jay Kojo Daasebre (JKD) and Monte Oz was not all about awards. Poet Samira proudly projected Ghana with a poem titled, Our Motherland.

There was also a surprise act from popular film producer and director, Kobi Rana who came on stage to premiere his new song ‘sobolo’. 

Musicians, AJ the Hottest, Nii Funny and Medikal took turns to thrill the audience with their popular songs.

One performance that got the loudest cheers was from Gh Media School.  They got a standing ovation with their creative act which involved coffins and “artificial” blood stains.  

In an interview with Daily Graphic after the event, Mr Richmond Amofa Sarpong, CEO of Youth Web Group, organisers of the event said he was overwhelmed by the turn out for the show.

 “This is beyond expectation but I’m grateful for all those who have supported this event and the sponsors as well,” he said.
