Coke Studio Season 1 launched 

The Coke Studio is an initiative by Coca-Cola which brings together musicians from across the African continent under the Coke umbrella to create unique and distinct sounds from different genres, eras, regions and languages in live studio recordings.

The show also provides a platform for new and established artistes to collaborate and produce authentic African music. 

Present at the launch of the first episode of the Coke Studio session were four artistes representing Ghana who were paired with a host of other artistes from neighbouring African countries.

Feli Nuna was paired with Chameleon and Neyma from Uganda and Mozambique respectively. Reigning artiste of the year, EL was paired with Jaguar from Kenya, songstress Efya paired off with Eddie Kenzo from Uganda while Dancehall act Stonebwoy collaborated with Haile Roots from Ethiopia.

RnB sensation Trey Songz will feature in the international Act episode of the show and Ghana’s Stonebwoy will represent the country to produce a masterpiece produced by South Africa’s finest producer Maphorisa.

The Coke Studio also provides viewers with unprecedented insight into how artistes work, how they make new beats, sing cover versions of each other’s songs and also embrace diversity by learning about other cultures, genres, languages and rhythms.

The artistes along with the highly talented Coke Studio Africa band will entertain viewers each week with tracks produced by local and international producers.

The first episode of Coke Studio was aired on Saturday, October 8. 2016 at 5pm on TV3 and listeners can also tune in to YFM every Sunday from 2pm starting October 16. 

In an interview with Showbiz, the Marketing Manager of Coca-Cola Equatorial Africa Ltd, Kgomotso Tabane described Coke Studio as a platform which brings great artistes from across the continent together to collaborate and create new music.

“It provides our consumers the chance to discover new things, such as their favourite way of making songs, discover new artistes and good music,” she said.

“We are all enthused about Coke Studio as it promises to be a whole new world of music discovery; different styles and rhythms all brought together on one platform to showcase the great talents we have in Africa,” she added.
