The Ghana Meets Naija concert is arguably among the most anticipated entertainment events in the country. Over the years, Empire Entertainment, organisers of the event, have been able to assemble some of the biggest artistes not only from Ghana but Nigeria as well and this year is no different.
Empire Entertainment has successfully built on the friendly rivalry that exists between Ghanaians and Nigerians and has elevated the concert to a “must see” status among both Ghanaians and Nigerians.
The calibre of artistes and patronage has never been an issue for organisers since they have consistently managed to fill the Accra International Conference Centre to capacity at every single edition.
The issue Showbiz has had cause to complain about, however, has to do with the logistics and planning. Time after time, the venue where the concert has been held has been filled beyond capacity literally leaving no elbow room creating a very uncomfortable atmosphere.
This situation significantly diminishes what will otherwise be an amazing opportunity to witness Ghanaians and Nigerian heavyweights battling it out.
We urge Empire Entertainment not to repeat the mistakes that have affected previous editions but to ensure that patrons receive value for money. We ask Empire Entertainment to raise the standards of what we have come to expect from entertainment events in the country.
As Empire Entertainment addresses these concerns, Showbiz looks forward to an exciting event come Saturday, May 27, and we hope the best artiste wears the crown on the night.
