Zormelo and Associates ventures into oil and gas

Ten years ago, there was a lot of excitement about the Oil & Gas industry. Expectations were high and a lot of anticipation of how the economy will be transformed by the discovery of oil in commercial quantity.

Ten years of participating in the Oil and Gas Industry has been rewarding and challenging.

Zormelo & Associates played a leading role in the upstream sector by partnering with Tullow Ghana Limited right at its inception.  We worked with the team in London to set up the HR Department and develop HR policies, procedures and systems prior to the engagement of local employees in 2007. We went on to assist with the recruitment of its onshore staff. Our second significant participation in the Oil & Gas sector was to recruit for the first FPSO, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, for MODEC Ghana and subsequently for the second FPSO, Professor John Atta Mills.

In addition to recruitment, we have provided Training, HR Advisory and Outsourcing services to other companies in the sector, including Anadarko, Baker Hughes, Kosmos Energy, Transocean, Technip and GNPC. In addition to Tullow Ghana Limited, we have also worked and continue to work with some of the major players in the sector. We are proud to be associated with the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the discovery of oil in Ghana and look forward to continuing to be a leading service provider to the sector.

Dr Douglas Zormelo- Managing Director

Douglas Zormelo is the Managing Director and Chairman of Zormelo and Associates.  He is an experienced management and development expert who has worked in both the private and public sector and also in academia. He has worked with Price Waterhouse, and KPMG. Dr Zormelo was Project Coordinator of the ECOWAS Trade Negotiations Capacity Building Project.

Dr Zormelo has also taught at the London School of Economics, the Legon Centre for International Affairs and Diplomacy, University of Ghana and was a Visiting Professor at the Graduate School of International Affairs of the University of Denver, Colorado. He was also a Research Associate at the Overseas Development Institute, London and a Consultant at CTA Trade and Export Consultants in Reading, England. He has consulted widely with various international organisations, including the United Nations, the World Bank, South African Development Community and the Economic Community of West African States.
He holds a PhD from the London School of Economics.
