Universal Tyres now in Ghana
Universal Tyres Company Limited (UTCL), the world’s leading innovator of re-useable technology and producers of affordable re-treaded tyres, has opened an outlet in the country to assist businesses and fleet managers to reduce road carnage resulting from tyre bursts.

The opening of the outlet in the country, according to the company, was going to help businesses widen their profit margins through the treatment of worn-out tyres.
The shop is at Amasaman in the Ga East Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, near the tollbooth on the Nsawam road.
According to the Resident Engineer of UTCL, Mr Buah Soale, the company was basically involved in retreading and remoulding of worn-out tyres, repairs, improvement of spot punctured tyres, as well as sale of tyres.
“We restore worn-out tyres which are within their efficacy periods with new treads, giving them a near 85 per cent re-useable lifespan,” he said.
Mr Soale said the benefits of doing business with the company included the ability of transport managers to cut down, by more than half, their transport expenditure through the use of retreads due to their low cost and near excellent quality.
That, he said, gave better cost savings and wider profit margins for the wise fleet managers.
He added that the company had provided services to numerous reputable organisations, both in the public and private sectors. Some of them are MPS, ACS, TCT, HBX, ANTRAK, all of which are shipping and clearing companies located in Tema.
In addition, he stated that companies in the quarry and transport industry, such as, Quality Quarry, CK, Twin Rock, HBS, Atlantic Quarries, OAK and VIP Buses have also benefited from their products.
Customer assurance
Mr Soale also assured the public that since the re-treading technology deployed by the company had been certified and approved by the national regulatory authorities, Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), users of their products had confidence while driving.
“Research has revealed that retreads have been used safely and will continue to be used, “he said.
He emphasised that retreaded tyres were safe but sell at a far lower price than a new one.
“According to the Tyre Retread Information Bureau of the United States of America, there is no significant difference in quality between new and recapped tyres if all retreading protocols are effectively followed as done at Universal Tyres,” he added.
