The new card is aimed at adding value to the day-to-day fuel and shopping transaction of customers and is currently in use at 90 out of the 235 network stations in the country.

The Managing Director of Total Ghana, Mr Olivier Van-Parys, speaking at the launch said the card had been a success since its introduction 18 years ago.

He said currently, 2,300 companies were using the card and a total of 70,000 cards were active in the market - representing 1.5 million transactions per year.

‘’The Total card was and is a tool for our corporate customers to first of all optimise the fuel consumption of their fleet, avoid carrying cash in their vehicles and ultimately better monitor their fleet fuel management by providing data that is easy to analyse’’ he said.

“After so many requests from individuals, we have, as a company, decided to extend the same convenience to the public by re-launching the B2C card. The card is now aimed at reducing fuel consumption, total wash and shopping. This will avoid carrying cash by customers’’, he added.

The Minister of Transport, Mr Fifi Kwetey, commended Total Ghana for the innovation, saying, “beyond the enhancement of infrastructure to ensure a safe passage for our various commuters, we are also encouraging savings in the use of energy in various forms. Within this context, we welcome the Total B2C Fuel Card, which fits into our strategic plan with regards to preserving the lifespan of our vehicles.”

He said the B2C Total card would further allow all transport users to budget adequately their monthly purchase of petroleum products as the Total card will cater for commercial and private vehicle owners.

In a speech read on his behalf, the Deputy Minister for Petroleum, Mr Benjamin Dagadu, welcomed the relaunch of the card saying, “it is gratifying that Total Petroleum Ghana has taken advantage of this opportunity to reposition itself as a premium service provider by relaunching the Total B2C Fuel Card. We hope that this will translate into additional job opportunities for our youth.”

The card is expected to provide quality retail service. It can be configured to monitor the amount spent on fuel. It also consists of a security pin code which can be changed at any time and allows each member of the family to have their own pin code using the same Total Card.
