Safety challenges had no impact on sales — Samsung

The Business Leader of Samsung Electronic West Africa (SEWA), Mr Vishwas Saxena, has said the recent safety challenge with the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone had no impact on the sales of the company in the country.

While the electronic appliance manufacturer has assembled its best technicians to resolve the company’s safety problems, he said it had recorded positive performance with respect to sales this year and it was for that reason the company was improving its brand visibility and expand its distribution channels nationwide.

“We are very proud of being at the forefront of innovation, providing consumers an experience of a product they have perhaps thought about but had not seen and wish they had a product like that to meet their needs. So there is no need for consumers to worry because if we are not confident about our products, we will not invest in showrooms,” Mr Saxena told the Daily Graphic in Accra.

The electronic appliance manufacturer recently recalled over 2.5 million Galaxy Note 7 smartphone devices due to several reported cases of overheating or outright explosions during charge.

Ultramodern store

He said this at the launch of the Samsung Electronic’s new store in Accra aimed at offering customers relaxed environment for the needed shopping satisfaction.

The move formed part of efforts to maintain its position as the largest electronics company in Africa and to ensure consumers had easy access to world-class innovative electronic appliance and smart devices.

The new premium brand store, a magnificent building which can be spotted at Ring Road Central former Alibert Building, near Paloma Hotel (about 200 metres away from the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange, Circle, Accra) comes with a product experience zone and full range of Samsung digital appliances and other smart devices to give customers true satisfaction.

It also seeks to offer consumers the exclusive opportunities to experience the latest range of Samsung’s luxury products which include the Ultra High Definition Televisions (SUHD TVs), the world’s fastest cooling triangle and Jet Engine air conditioners amongst other appliances.

Samsung experience

Mr Saxena explained that the Samsung Brand store would offer customers the full Samsung experience across their digital, audio visual and home appliances.

“Samsung continues to expand its customer care centres across West Africa. This new Samsung Premium Brand Store comes at a time when Samsung has shifted its attention to Africa, as the company grows its market share across consumer electronics and mobile segments,” he cited.

“It will provide the end consumer with a stimulating environment in which to discover the full spectrum of Samsung's world-class offerings in one easily-accessible location. Apart from the showroom we also have a customer service area to serve consumers,” he added.
