Otuasekan Rural Bank opens new branch

The Otuasekan Rural Bank Limited, located at Kofiase in the Sekyere West District of the Ashanti Region, has opened a new branch at Suame in the Ashanti region.

The opening of the branch is aimed at bringing thebank’s services to the doorstep of small-scale businesses, including traders in the market.

The bank sees the area as a strategic one with a larger population of small-scale businesses, market women and artisans at the Suame Magazine area. It hopes to leverage on its superior banking services with attractive facilities to take care of their needs.

The  new branch brings to nine the number of branches in the Ashanti Region and the fourth within the Kumasi Metropolis since its inception 29 years ago.

About 470 customers, including market women and artisans at the Suame Magazine area, have opened new accounts with the bank’s new branch.

At the opening ceremony held in Kumasi, the Board Chairman of the Otuasekan Rural Bank Limited, Dr Nana Akowuah Boamah, noted that the opening of the new branch at Suame was as a result of the persistent requests from customers of the bank who had to travel all the way from their respective areas to Maakro to access the bank’s products and services.

Nana Boamah further explained that the management saw the need to open a new branch in the area in order to serve the people in areas such as New Tafo/Krokofrom, Ash Town, Bantama and Suame better.

He assured customers of services of well-trained and dedicated staff who would work effectively towards the growth of their businesses and further encouraged the traders, artisans and other businessmen and women to patronise the products and services as the bank had the ability to contribute to the growth of their businesses.

The General Manager of Otuasekan Rural Bank Limited, Mr John De Graft, noted that the bank thrived on a foundation of quality of service to its valued customers and had positioned itself well among the rural banks in Ghana.

“We have come this far as a result of the dedication and hard work of our employees in delivering superior, quality and tailor-made products to suit our customer needs,” Mr De Graft said.

Explaining the services the bank provides to customers, Mr De Graft said the bank had loans for salaried workers, funeral/social loans, current account, savings account, fixed deposit with an attractive interest rate and shares with a unit price of 50p per share.

The general manager indicated that excellent customer service and satisfaction were the bank’s primary concerns as the customers were their valued assets.

He promised the bank’s continuous support in promoting the socio-economic development of their operational areas and that of the entire country.

Mr De Graft appealed to the market women and other businesses in the operational areas to patronise the bank so they could  enjoy the attractive services and offers to  grow their businesses and also contribute to the growth of the nation.

A representative from ARB Apex Bank, Mr Ako-Abang Benjamin, advised the management of the rural bank to introduce  mechanisms and strategies that would make money transfer processes easy and readily accessible to customers within their catchment areas.

Most market women in the area defied the downpour during the opening ceremony to be part of the programme, as well as open new accounts with the Otuasekan Rural Bank Limited.  

Present at the ceremony were a representative of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Nana Yaw Daani, Otumfuo Asuamehene, general managers from other rural banks, as well as staff of the bank. — GB
